Our project is about finding feedback from students to improve the learning process. We think that students should be able to send feedback about specific topics to improve the learning process. Students and instructors can cooperate to make the learning process more meaningful and motivating. Day by day, topic by topic, if needed, student by student. Every student has different constructs for building new knowledge. We think that feedback should be easy to deliver, some existing platforms create a lot of hassle to create Q&A spaces for collaboration. Upvoting, downvoting, selecting an emotion for an anonymous (masked) comment should be allowed. From your phone, in less than 30 seconds. In class, we have noticed that students seem to express their real emotions through anonymous participation. Getting precise and honest feedback is the best way to deliver them the best materials, examples, discussions and reflections.
Alan, a second-grade student, is taking Calculus class. After the class professor usually asks students for the feedback to improve the classes, but Alan usually keeps silence and doesn’t have a lot of stuff to say. However, some time later when he is thinking about the class, preparing for the quizzes and doing the homework he finds out that he can suggest some ideas to the professor which will enhance the course. In addition, after researching the class’ topic more thoroughly he understands that there are some parts which need more detailed explanation whereas some easy concepts are explained in a too detailed way. So, Alan needs a way to give his feedback about the class after some time has passed. Of course, he can send an email to the professor, but he thinks that the professors from other universities might find the feedback useful too. To share a plural different point of view to the class.
Ana, American Literature professor, starts to teach the new class in her university, Modern American Literature in next semester. She is a bit confused because she needs to change her class materials. There are some new books she would like to add. After reading the students’ feedback about every novel covered and observing the most interesting topics. She make analysis according to the students’ opinions, thus she finally chooses what novels to keep for next semester.
The syllabuses are accompanied with the feedbacks from students so that the professors see the reflection about every topic. It will help to design the coursework in a more interesting way for students.
The most interesting topics should be marked. In the case, it will help a professor to choose the materials that best match her topics.
There might be some advice from the professors to students who have trouble during the course and some observations made during the class.
It will allow a new professor to have the opinions from different perspectives, so he/she will be able to design the syllabus which will be useful for the student.
At the same time she will deliver other interesting materials for difficult topics to achieve learning goals.
Li is a sophomore student from CS department he is still unsure about some topics he was taught in class. Li is very shy, usually he is not confident to raise his hand and make some questions in class, he thinks people are going to think he didn’t study enough or he is wasting time. During his Operating Systems Class he had some questions regarding to ‘Scheduling’ but he preferred to ask in an anonymous way -which is actually masked- from his mobile phone. At the same time Li is evaluating how does he feel in his learning process with an emoji to show his emotions or motivations in a given subject.
Professor Kim was able to see that someone made a question online in an anonymous way, some student needs feedback.
Professor Kim can see how are the students feeling in their learning process to keep them motivated.
He is also able to see some consensus around the questions about the topic that weren’t clear enough.
